CONSUMER WARNING: Fake Solicitation for Multiple Bayard Positions
August 17, 2022
It has come to our attention that Bayard’s name is being exploited to further a fraudulent scam, whereby individuals are being “interviewed” and “hired” for a job at Bayard that does not exist. The scammers are impersonating real Bayard employees and soliciting candidates via email using a domain very similar to Bayard’s actual domain. Those who respond are asked to conduct an interview via a messaging service. During the “interview” process, the scammers are seeking personal information (including copies of IDs/passports), addresses, and even financial information. The scammers are further offering to sell discounted technology—computer and phone—which is purportedly necessary for the Bayard position and to continue with the process.
Bayard is not associated with these solicitations, interviews, or job offers, and does not solicit potential employees using the above methods (legitimate openings may be found at https://bayardad.com/careers/). Unfortunately, these fraudulent schemes are using the names of reputable companies like ours without our permission. Common signs that an offer like this is part of a scam or phishing campaign are: spelling errors in the email and other communications; improper use of Bayard trademarks, which may appear to be low-resolution and/or dated; and requests for financial information. We are taking all necessary steps to work with the appropriate law enforcement and governmental authorities about this scam.
If you have received an offer similar to the one described above, we recommend the following:
- DO NOT provide any personal details, including your address or copies of any government identification
- DO NOT send any money via any apps or through services like Western Union or engage in any other financial transaction
- DO NOT provide any financial details, including a copy of a blank check
If you have been scammed, contact your bank and law enforcement authorities on how to proceed to recover any stolen funds, secure your bank account, and protect your personal information and privacy.
To further combat this scam, we would appreciate you sending us a copy of any materials you have received regarding this or similar offers bearing Bayard’s name by email to [email protected].
